Introduction

The LabAid project aims to assist a lecturer in sharing his or her onscreen information with all the students in the computer laboratory (lab). The lecturer will be able to show demonstrations and teaching materials to the class, but students will be able to see this content from the comfort of their own computer screens instead of having to try and see the screen of an overhead projector (OHP) at the top of the lab. The LabAid client software is useful in situations where the lab is large and students at the back may not be able to see clearly what is being demonstrated on the OHP, or lighting issues cause the picture to be difficult to see.

For Lecturers

The LabAid project also enables lecturers to know when his/her students are doing other computer activities instead of focusing on the content simulcast from the lecturers screen while the presentation is taking place. The lecturer will have the ability to instantly send students in the lab snippets of text from the presentation that they will be able to use and will save time by not having them have to type it.
